Gillard! It’s Tim Flannery you should have fired not Senator Trish Crossin!
With Kevin Glancy
The mounting evidence that Chief Climate Commissioner, Tim Flannery’s $186,000 annual taxpayer funded salary along with his travel plans are an absolute waste of money is hard to ignore. We can no longer afford his dud predictions which have and continue to cost Australian taxpayers a lot of money. Nor can we accept the gloom and doom predictions from the Climate Institute.
In 2007 Tim said this:
“Although we’re getting say a 20 per cent decrease in rainfall in some areas of Australia, that’s translating to a 60 per cent decrease in the run-off into the dams and rivers. That’s because the soil is warmer because of global warming and the plants are under more stress and therefore using more moisture. So even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and our river systems, and that’s a real worry for the people in the bush.”
Tim, it’s now 2012 and dams in Queensland are currently between 90 and 100% full and it’s been that way for a while. Heavy rainfall, the stuff you said wouldn’t happen again has that effect you know. Of course you must have read about the damaging floods in 2011 and yesterday, water had to be released from two dams to avoid flooding this year due to the heavy rains that have been falling for the last few days throughout the state.
Flooding due to excessive rainfall has been a feature in Queensland pretty much every year since your prediction.
Back in 2007 you also predicted this. “Australia is likely to lose its northern rainfall… In Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane, water supplies are so low they need desalinated water urgently, possibly in as little as 18 months.”
Well, your mates in state Labor took your advice and built the things and now they are in mothballs around the country running up expensive maintenance costs in an effort to minimise the waste of taxpayer dollars and who knows how long before we will need them. Right now, Queensland LNP Premier Campbell Newman is getting regularly beaten up by the media simply because he’s trying to clean up that typical Labor waste and excess.
Now like you, I know the climate always changes but unlike you, I don’t pretend to be clairvoyant nor am I egoistical enough to think I can control the climate. However, I’m quite sure that there will be another period of drought on the horizon because the climate does change, but the doom and gloom predictions you have made, along with those of your global warmist brigade are lying in pieces on the ground. Well I’m being polite, they are actually lies and quackery.
And here’s more proof. This was Tim’s dramatic prediction in 2007 about what the then effects of global warming were and what that would mean in the short term in Queensland;
“….that’s translating to a 60 per cent decrease in the run-off into the dams and rivers. So even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and our river systems….,”
How wrong you were Mr Flannery. It is exactly because dams, rivers and creeks are over-flowing that this has happened and as I write things are getting worse.
Six people have died in Queensland’s unfolding flood crisis, which will slam the state with another massive damage bill.
Two years ago, floods swept across the state, killing at least 35 people and leaving a $6 billion reconstruction task.
Authorities now face the prospect of doing it all over again. The story so far…
The central Queensland cities of Gladstone and Bundaberg are in the grip of widespread flooding.
The southern community of Gympie will flood for the third time in three years. And Maryborough is also expected to go under.
Hundreds of homes and businesses across those communities have flooded or are expected to flood.
In Bundaberg alone, 400 properties are expected to go under, many of them the same ones that faced a heartbreaking clean-up just two years ago.
Entire suburbs have been evacuated as flood waters continue to rise in the city.
The low pressure system has already swept over the Sunshine Coast, causing localised flooding and eroding the area’s famous beaches. (Courtesy: www.bigpond.com)
Weather events such as the above will continue to happen because the climate changes and it will continue to surprise us. Man’s influence has very little to do with it, just ask any sailor who’s faced the perils of rising seas in an unpredictable ocean and yet these fools like Flannery persist with their stupid predictions and further, tell us that they can control the climate as long as we follow their advice. Sheer lunacy!
This was a giant low pressure cell that brought with it massive rainfall over Queensland and NSW. It is not the first and it will not be the last.
Just how on earth can a carbon tax stop such unpredictable weather patterns?
How can you and your mob of climate change charlatans including the Labor government and the Greens continue to be so forthright with your dangerous climate announcements based on supposed global warming? Falsehoods that continue to deceive the Australian public when global temperatures have not risen over the last 16 years and that’s based on evidence from your own side of the stupid fence.
Even your mates at the UN IPCC cannot make the link between so-called global warming and extreme weather events. (UN IPCC AR5 Draft Report) But you and others continue to pronounce such drivel. There’s simply no hard evidence to support your theories on climate change and real events. Yet you actually had the audacity to blame global warming for our hot Australian summer when we’ve had much warmer summers before.
How do you explain, 410 people killed in Europe this time last year due to extreme cold? More lives were lost in December 2012 through to January 2013 in Asia and Europe due to unexpected, unpredicted extreme record breaking cold weather.
Not warming Tim – but cooling! And don’t go on about your nonsense that cooling is because of global warming you cannot have it both ways.
Oh! And what did you say about rising sea levels? That’s right you and your climate institute mates were quite dramatic about that one. We’d all be swamped you said. The only chance of that happening will be due to the heavy rain that you said would never fall again.
Bear in mind Will Steffen and his folk from the Climate Institute were in Queensland before Christmas telling us all how far inland the rising sea would flow and how many houses it would take with it. There should be a law against such scaremongering and falsehoods. These people know absolutely squat!
Two peer reviewed studies into rising sea levels have found there is no evidence that the seas are rising. At best they are cyclic and the sea rises and falls marginally over a period of many years. The latest science on sea level rises has found no link to global warming and no increase in the rate of glacier melt over the past 100 years, reports Graham Lloyd, The Australian’s environment editor.
According to Graham, a peer-reviewed paper published last month in Journal of Climate, highlights one of the great uncertainties in climate change research. The question; will ocean levels rise by more than the current 3mm a year?
The peer-reviewed article, “20th-century global-mean sea-level rise: is the whole greater than the sum of the parts?” by JM Gregory, sought to explain the factors involved in sea-level rises during the last century. It found that sea-level rises had not accelerated “despite the increasing anthropogenic forcing” or human influence.
Australia’s pre-eminent sea-level scientist, John Church, contributed to the paper, which said it could not link climate change and the rate of sea-level rises in the 20th century. (Courtesy of The Australian newspaper)
Tim Flannery, I know you are not actually a climate change scientist and prefer the study of mammals but here’s a tip from another amateur. Forget global warming, put your money on global cooling because there’s far more evidence to support that notion.
Further, a new warmist study from your own supporters at Oslo University concedes that the IPCC predicted rise in temperatures is probably off the mark by about 100% – and remember, these researchers are on your side.
Rather than the 3.5C rise claimed by IPCC it’s more likely only going to be 1.9C.
I’m afraid this is another bad bit of clairvoyance on Tim’s part and this depressing news for him and his climate change buddies to consider is courtesy of Dr Benny Peiser. I might add that Dr Peiser probably knows his stuff, the International Astronomical Union even named a 10km-wide asteroid, (Minor Planet 7107) in his name.
Seriously Tim, notwithstanding the suspect nature of such modelling, do you really think that if the temperature tomorrow or in 100 years increases by one or two degrees that it will be catastrophic when seasonal rises far greater than that have occurred since time began? Humans will adapt as they always have done.
It’s far better for humans and plant life that temperatures go up and not down. Easier to keep cool when it’s hot, rather than to stay warm when it’s cold. Just ask those families who lost their loved ones in Europe and Asia due to cold weather. Besides, plants and vegetables love CO2 they thrive on it and we need the food.
Yet here we are being slugged with a carbon tax and spending billions of dollars to reduce the temperature supposedly by a miniscule .0038 degrees somewhere in the future because Labor wants more of our money and you and your mates at the Climate Institute need a career.
A bit indulgent don’t you think. You are all far too expensive and it’s time to go. Besides, haven’t you heard Mercury is the new black? That’s right there’s a new game in town.
Mercury is the new ‘black’
The UN, disappointed that global warming hasn’t worked out, is turning its attention to mercury. It seems just like CO2 there’s too much mercury around the place and it’s another climate-changer. So their campaign has begun in an effort to get a few more bucks out of us all on behalf of the left-wing emotionally dependent, who need a reason for another new tax.
I suppose you saw that coming with your clairvoyance an’ all. Still you’ve got company – which one of your mates was it that said that our children wouldn’t know what snow looked like? Have you seen the weather in Asia and up north lately?
It is so hard to say anything kind about be the likes of Tim Flannery, the Climate Institute, the Labor government and the Greens with their apocalyptical nonsense and their lunatic indulgence and waste of taxpayer’s money. If you were watching some performer on stage making these kind of predictions you’d ask for your money back. The worst part is some people actually believe this kind of drivel.
Last year their hero, Al Gore, the man who has campaigned against oil and made millions out of his fraudulent ‘Inconvenient Truth’, sold his left-wing TV station to big oil in the middle-east for a tidy $500 million. Climate change has made him a very wealthy man and he has left a very big carbon footprint with all his global travel.
Idiots, fraudsters and hypocrites the lot of you. Now prove that I’m wrong.
