THE LIBERAL PARTY IS A TASTELESS BREW SO TRY SOMETHING ELSE

Political parties are products like any other and as any advertising professional knows; in order to appeal to the masses, a product must establish a point of difference over its competitors.

Currently, if the Liberal party product was a soup it would be tasteless. It’s a product that tries to please everyone all of the time when in fact, it fails to please hardly any of us most of the time.

Its ingredients are a confusing mix of left-wing surrenders, enhanced by a smattering of left of centre titbits and topped off with an unhealthy UN relish. Oh! You might pick up the odd sniff of conservative values now and again, much like a sprinkling of useless parsley struggling to float on the top.

However, when it’s served up it’s hardly the taste sensation it should be and if you’re a conservative looking for some bite, you won’t find much substance behind the Liberal brand. Even they have no idea what their blend is meant to taste like.

The Liberal label has become a mishmash. Strident blue no more and without a vision it’s turned bluish pink. A party coloured by more left than right. Its logo might well feature a trio of recent party leaders including the current one, Scott Morrison. Not that you could tell because they all have their heads buried in the sand.

In the background are their Ministers having trouble standing up for something and advisors, half hidden in the bushes pouring through text books to work out what to do next. The problem is; you won’t learn common sense or how to communicate in a book or a university. They’re lessons that can only be learnt on the street and it’s in the streets of Australia where the Liberal’s future will be decided.

A fictitious and symbolic image it may be but it’s one that depicts an abject failure by the party to clearly establish what it stands for ever since John Howard left the brand. The party continually frustrates many Australians who know that they’re no longer represented; their conservative values have been tossed aside in the fight for who governs their lives.  It’s become a race between left and more left; a nonsensical battle between dumb and dumber.

All this when the social fabric of Australia is under more threat than it’s ever been before. Forget the cold war fifties and reds under the beds. They’re everywhere these days; in our schools, universities, institutions, defence and running the public service.  They’re even picking up Australian of the Year awards because the lefties choose the winners.

They’re influencing our corporations, cheering on human resource programmes with discriminatory and racist quota systems under socialist buzz words like diversity, inclusion and unconscious bias. That last little pink gem came via Malcolm Turnbull’s Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Michael Parkinson. He gets close to a million dollars a year for that kind of useless and divisive contribution.

I’d like to think that no Liberal politician really wants to live under the blanket of socialism but how could you tell. With a few hamstrung exceptions worthy of note like Peter Dutton, Amanda Stoker, Craig Kelly, Eric Abetz and Andrew Hastie, it’s a party that has left the gates wide open and won’t lift a finger to stop the obvious cultural and economic attack on Australian citizens. Whether through divisive identity politics or climate change ideology. Instead, the Liberals have allowed the country to drift further and further towards the Socialist Republic of Australia.

Of course this is the line that should separate Liberal from Labor. At the very least it should be the one glaring point of difference but sadly, for Australia it isn’t.  When universities shun debate and indulge in ‘safe spaces’ and ‘trigger warnings or sack lecturers because they do not follow the climate change narrative; or when they refuse to include a totally funded course in Western Civilisation because they deem it to be racist and charge conservative students protection money when they hold a meeting, you would expect that a Liberal Government would stand up to protect their own. Instead of warnings of a funding cut for those socialist academic institutions, all you get is meaningless rhetoric.

If the Liberals were looking for respect they shouldn’t look in my direction. The greatest cultural shift to the left in this country has occurred under their watch. They may well crow about a ‘broad church’ but their first priority should be a strong conservative one, otherwise there’s no reason for them to exist.

You cannot be a party of the centre when a country is divided. Particularly when conservatives are extremely worried about the rapid drift towards socialism. In trying to be all things to all people, the Liberals serve no one and the left side of the political spectrum doesn’t need them. It’s standing room only on that side of the media promoted, activist fence.

In fairness to Labor’s product, it does have a flavour. The only problem is, whenever you try it, you’re always left with a bad taste in your mouth. You need far more than mouth wash to remove a Labor aftertaste left by higher taxes, a higher cost of living, massive debt and the racism of identity politics.

It’s a toxic mix complete with restrictions on freedom of speech and opinion. If that’s not enough to make you puke, you’ve still got to overcome that queasy feeling brought on by the leftovers. A glut of divisive, social engineering policies and a bureaucracy contaminated by the overwhelming stench of left-wing public servants with a socialist thirst to quench. Those unelected swill who dine in Canberra and would flush our nation’s sovereignty down the drain with the Global Compact on Migration and its ilk.

You’d think that it would be enough to destroy anyone’s appetite for the Labor product but here’s where things go from bad to worse. There’s only two choices on the election menu in the lower house and the Liberal party is the other one. The suspect election system will produce a suspect meal from the two but in the past and currently, when it’s the Liberal’s turn to govern they deliver very little of substance. They certainly do not cater for the silent majority and that’s where their votes have always been.

The Liberals do not clear away the left overs, do not right the wrongs. Apart from the odd morsel of sensible fare to whet and frustrate the appetite, they generally leave things that really matter as they were; left eroded under Labor.

They instead cuddle up to the unjustified economic insanity of climate change policies and the UN. Refuse to restore freedom of speech and opinion. Stand limp in the face of the indulgent, taxpayer funded left-wing, sheltered workshop known as the ABC. They refuse to severely cut immigration when it’s obvious that our infrastructure cannot sustain the current population. Worse! They stupidly try to appease the left when the left will never vote for them.

When confronted by a drought they offer platitudes instead of action. Throw money at the wall without a real plan to reduce its effect. It’s not about a lack of water. There’s plenty of it wasted as it falls into the sea. It’s about harvesting the rain that falls, ignoring green stupidity and building dams and pipelines and making sure that the water gets to where it’s needed and doesn’t flood the areas it shouldn’t.

Why don’t they talk to the engineers? They are the problem solvers. Forget the academics and the public service bureaucrats. Why don’t the Liberals understand that a taxpayer funded academic study will not produce solutions? It will only produce a negative result and at best procrastination to ensure that the funding of academic careers and rent seekers keeps flowing as the confected drama builds. Just like it has with global warming – the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on humankind.

Above all! They should understand that the moment you put taxpayer money on the table the cowboys will come; as they did during the scourge of Labor’s pink batts, which saw 4 deaths and 154 houses across the country reduced to ashes. But what do the Liberals do? Give nearly half a billion dollars to a climate change mob who didn’t even ask for it.

As always, Liberals are fearful of the left-wing dominated media and completely deaf to the desires of the majority in an inherently conservative population.  They will not argue the case on their behalf and there are some really good arguments that they could present. For instance there is a huge amount of scientific evidence and data to debunk climate change mythology but the Liberals refuse to speak of it.

Instead they climb on board the ship of fools and sail away with our money, taking with them our quality of life. A journey powered by the absolute mind bending, illogical nonsense that suggests; by investing our money in another unreliable wind tower or a solar panel we can save the planet. When supposed science reaches that conclusion then you know it’s long past time to jump ship. But not the Liberals, they’d rather tie themselves to the broken mast. Already, reality has left the hypothetical, fantasy of modelled, climate change scare mongering far behind but still the Liberals sail on.

The trouble is that courage is not in the Liberal DNA and they should find some and do it quickly. If there is one thing that the Liberals have over Labor it’s a better grasp of economics but its not enough to ensure that the party’s carcass will not be left splattered over the pavement after the next federal election.

The Liberals need to establish a clear point of difference and to that end they need to be unwavering in their resolve. Nothing less than shock and awe will save their day and they can start with climate change insanity and file for an immediate Paris divorce. The evidence against this ill-fated marriage between stupidity and economic suicide continuing any further is overwhelming. Sleeping with the unelected, socialist UN is treason and the Liberals ought to know better. History will show that both Labor and Liberal have betrayed their country in the worst way possible.

The disappointment for conservatives is that they are generally freedom loving individuals who take responsibility for their own lives, governed by facts and reasoned thought.  Yet the natural party of their choice remains mute and ignorant. The Liberals couldn’t even admit that it’s okay to be white, a shameful racist position that saw them drop points in the last October News Poll. The party ignores their cries and worse; continues to roll over as the avalanche of socialist tribalism pummels its way through our lives.

If Scott Morrison wanted to win the next election he could but it will require a few admissions to pre-empt his policies. He’ll need to explain why his position has changed on a number of key issues; to overcome the contradictions of the previous left-leaning policies of his party.  He should move our embassy to Jerusalem without hesitation. It’s a test now. To do otherwise is to hand our foreign policy to Indonesia.The survival of Israel, the last frontier in the middle east is critical and our support or lack of it reveals which side we are on. The Prime Minister introduced the topic he has to act now. After all, it’s simply about putting our embassy in a capital city where it should be – it’s a no-brainer.

All his arguments can be prosecuted based on facts, reason and evidence. He should embark on a regular monthly national address and buy the time on television to explain his stance on each policy. It would be the best use of their campaign money. It would provide some cut-through and show what Morrison and his party really believe in and in doing so remind people of what Labor doesn’t believe in.

The left-wing media will attempt to beat him up but those drones and their followers will never vote for him or his party. He will need to reach beyond them and connect with the sensibilities of the majority of the population. They will listen if Morrison has something sensible to say.

Sadly, on current evidence I doubt that Morrison has the stomach for the fight. He can be a good communicator but his words will fall on deaf ears unless he draws a thick blue conservative line in the ochre sand. Right now he’s too wishy-washy as he places an each way bet and he’s running out of time. Unless he can attract conservatives back to the fold, the Liberal party is in real danger of becoming a minor party after the next election.  It’s certainly heading that way while the current Prime Minister remains with one foot straddling the divide between left and right.

So how can we stop the rot?

THE SENATE IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN STOP THE ROT

As the Liberal party continues to stand for nothing, there are other tastier conservative choices and regardless of the vagaries of our biased, two-party preferred election system, if you’re a conservative you should try them. If Labor wins the next federal election as it appears it will, it’s only in the Senate where their lunacy can be held at bay or at least restricted.

I’m sure many are frustrated by the Senate’s obstructive ways and the lack of justification as to why many Senators actually hold Senate positions. Tasmania has 12 Senators in the 76 available and it certainly does not warrant that many. The paltry number of votes that give most Senators that power is undoubtedly an abuse of democracy. But these are desperate times and our only hope is in the Senate. It’s the only way in through a manipulated two-party preferred voting system. But it will only succeed if a clutch of genuine conservatives hold the balance of power in the Senate after the next federal election.

The Liberal party has already shown that they are not prepared to fight for Australian conservative values and do not deserve much consideration. The argument that by punishing the Liberals at polling booths you let Labor in carries weight but voting for the marginally better of two evils will not stop the rot. The Liberals have had long enough to establish their conservative credentials and they have failed miserably.

To avoid Labor, the best strategy for a conservative is to ensure that even if they vote Liberal in the lower house that they use their white ballot paper vote to ensure that genuine minor conservative parties gain control of the Senate.  I would favour the Australian Conservatives, they are the sensible option but others like One Nation and David Leyonhjelm’s Liberal Democrats are also worthy of consideration.

The Australian Conservatives deserve our conservative support in the Senate

There’s no mistaking Senator Cory Bernardi’s genuine conservative credentials or his resolve. Understandably dissatisfied with the left-leaning direction of his then Liberal party he departed in 2016 to stand as an independent Senator. If a politician was only interested in the easy money, Bernardi’s move is a definite contradiction.

He’d always been loyal to the party of his choice and the split clearly suggests that he was motivated by conscience and integrity. It could have ended his political career and there would have been many who had hoped it would.

At the time he obviously had bigger plans and concerned about the socialist course that Australia was on, he then formed the Australian Conservatives.

He makes no bones about his election strategy and he continues to proceed with caution. Senator Bernardi is boxing clever and needs to; he understands the need for party discipline.  He’s aware of how difficult it is to find 150 good candidates to contest seats for the House of Representatives. Sensibly, he’s concentrating on finding good candidates for the Senate. A smart move but candidate selection in any event, is always a risky business.

Cory Bernardi is wise to travel slowly in choosing his people. One of the problems for conservative parties are ‘loose cannons’.  Candidates and members who shoot off at the mouth without thinking. What they have to say is not necessarily wrong but unlike those on the left, the media will pounce on the slightest suspect word said by a conservative that can be taken out of context and use it to label someone as racist, extremist, homophobe etc. The result? The party’s election chances are damaged and the candidate’s campaign is over before it starts.

Pauline Hanson has a history of bad candidate selection and it has robbed her and her party of meaningful success. Undoubtedly, she is the most courageous politician in Australia but also pursues non-relevant issues like vaccination amongst others. I can appreciate her passion but politics is a hard and unfair game and contentious minor issues should be ignored. They are just fodder for the dominant left-wing media, a means by which they can pull you down.

Positioning a party is like banging a nail home and there’s no time for distractions or mixed messages. A minor party must pick say, five core policies and air them over and over again to ram that nail home.

There’s multiple conservative policy choices. Pulling out of the Paris climate change lunacy; reducing unsustainable immigration; regaining freedom of speech and opinion; curing problems caused by drought with rain harvesting infrastructure and pipelines.

There’s secondary but still important cultural issues like; religious freedom and identity politics; selling or correcting the biased ABC and shutting down the freedom eroding, Human Rights Commission. There are many issues that will resonate not just with conservatives but with any voter who has a degree of intelligence and common sense.

It’s not easy to get the message out. Minor parties, particularly conservative ones do not have the luxury of media attention. The trouble is that conservatives only get that attention when they’re controversial in the eyes of the media.

Creating controversy is not necessarily a bad thing in attracting publicity but you can be provocative without fuelling the cries of racist etc. Use facts to support your case and your policy stance will connect, whether it’s about unsustainable immigration and climate change or the reality of renewable subsidies forcing the rise in electricity prices.

Pointing out hypocrisy and double standards can also be provocative and attract media attention and there’s a daily dose of contradictions by those on the left. But it pays to align those with key policy positions as you continue to bang the nail home and create a vote-worthy profile. Highlighting double standards also show where you stand in the bigger picture.

Importantly, when a candidate speaks to the media, he or she must express what they have to say carefully. To learn to speak in terms of twenty-second meaningful grabs because the media is rarely interested in context and will avoid the meat in your sandwich and choose the lettuce.

Senator Cory Bernardi knows his way around the corridors of parliament house, is articulate and is equipped with a good dose of common sense. It’s just what Australia needs along with the strength to resist the scourge of socialism flushing individual freedom and with it the hopes for our country down the drain.
